Thunderstorms, heavy rain expected in most states until 6pm

The whole of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya are also predicted to experience the same weather conditions.

KUALA LUMPUR - Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to affect almost all states nationwide until 6 pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 2.30 pm, MetMalaysia said in the north, the affected areas in Kedah are Kuala Muda, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu, while in Penang, the warning covers Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan.

In Perak, the districts involved are Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta and Kampar.

On the east coast, the whole of Pahang is expected to be affected. In Terengganu, the warning covers Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman, while in Kelantan it involves Gua Musang.

Similar conditions are forecast in Johor, affecting Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru, as well as the entire states of Negeri Sembilan and Melaka.
