KUANTAN - A man has lodged a police report against his son, who is suspected of uploading and disseminating content touching on religion, race and royalty (3R) issues via social media.
Kuantan district police chief ACP Ashari Abu Samah said police received the report early this morning after the 50-year-old man arrived at a police station with his 21-year-old son, a student at a higher learning institution.
"The complainant came to the police station with his son to apologise to Muslims and expressed concern for his son’s safety following the post made on the social media platform,” he said in a statement today.
He said the suspect was believed to have uploaded an image deemed insulting to the Quran on his Threads social media account, before being arrested and remanded for four days starting today until Saturday to assist in investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 298 of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948.
Ashari also advised the public to remain calm and refrain from taking matters into their own hands that could disrupt public order. - BERNAMA
