Lawyer denies allegations of attempt to topple govt, calls police report ‘mother of all lies’
He confirmed that two lawyers representing Na’imah were named in the police report.

KUALA LUMPUR – A lawyer representing Toh Puan Na’imah Abdul Khalid has denied allegations that there were any discussions or instructions from the widow of the late former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin to topple the government or undermine the parliamentary democratic system.
Lawyer Muhammad Nizamuddin Abdul Hamid said throughout his duty in defending Na’imah, 69, all parties had focused solely on the actual facts.
"There were no discussions about toppling the government; this is the ‘mother of all lies.’
"The family of the late Tun Daim Zainuddin has the right to defend themselves against all slander and accusations thrown at them, whether in court or in the media," he said in a press conference at the High Court, here, today.
He added that this was not limited to allegations by the government or the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
He said the legacy and good name of his client’s family must be properly defended.
Commenting on the police report that went viral on social media and an international media report by Bloomberg, Nizamuddin said the narrative being spread was untrue, excessive and baseless.
He confirmed that two lawyers representing Na’imah were named in the police report.
"I am one of those named in the police report, while the other person named is Amir Zharif Abdullah," he said.
Previously, Na’imah came forward to deny any involvement in efforts to topple the government, as alleged by certain parties.
She stressed that the accusations were not only baseless but also absurd and illogical.
She also described attempts to link her to an international media report by Bloomberg involving MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki as irresponsible and an insult to the credibility of media practitioners.
Last week, a police report circulating on social media claimed that the influential family member had appointed a United Kingdom-based strategic communications firm.
It was allegedly to exert pressure on the MACC and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim with the help of international media.
