NEW DELHI - India's Ministry of External Affairs has denied claims circulating online that the United States Navy is using Indian ports amid the conflict with Iran, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

"Allegations being circulated on the US channel OAN that the US Navy is using Indian ports are fake and false. We caution against such unfounded and fabricated comments," the ministry's statement read.

The statement follows a report by One America News Network, in which retired US Army Colonel and former Defence Secretary adviser Douglas Macgregor claimed that the US Navy was using Indian ports amid the conflict with Iran.

On Feb 28, the US and Israel launched strikes on targets in Iran, including in Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties.

Iran retaliated with strikes against Israeli territory, as well as against US military bases across the Middle East.

The strikes against Iran occurred despite Oman-brokered talks between Washington and Tehran on the Iranian nuclear issue in Geneva. - BERNAMA-SPUTNIK/RIA NOVOSTI
