PM stays mum on Azam Baki contract renewal

KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday sidestepped a question on whether Tan Sri Azam Baki would continue as chief commissioner when his contract expires on May 12.
When asked about a report by the Singapore-based Straits Times, which quoted sources claiming that the term for Azam would not be renewed, Anwar remained coy.
"Well … Straits Times mana? (which Straits Times)?" he asked reporters.
After being told that the report was from the Singapore publication, Anwar responded with a brief "oh" before a journalist repeated the question on the tenure.
"They didn't ask me.
"Let them ask me first," said Anwar briefly before leaving.
Anwar was at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) for an International Womens Day event. - THE STAR
