Man dies after jumping from third floor during police raid

KUALA LUMPUR - A man died after jumping from the third floor of a residential unit in Jalan Gombak here while attempting to flee a police raid yesterday.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the incident occurred at 9.07 pm when police officers carried out a raid at the premises in connection with a motorcycle theft case, and two suspects attempted to escape by jumping from the unit.

"The 52-year-old local man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the case has been classified as a sudden death. The other suspect was unhurt,” he said in a statement today.

He said that during the raid, police also detained 12 individuals comprising four men, five women, and three children aged between three and 42.

"Two of those detained are Indonesian nationals,” he said.

Fadil said police also seized two stolen motorcycles and several types of drugs at the house, adding that further investigations are ongoing. - BERNAMA
