SHAH ALAM - South Korean actor Lee Sang-bo has been found dead at the age of 44, according to local media reports and industry sources.

The actor, known for his roles in various hit television dramas, was reportedly discovered by a family member on Thursday.

The Korea Herald reported authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of death, while his agency stated on Friday that it is working to confirm specific details surrounding the incident.

Following the news of his passing, all posts on his social media accounts have been deleted.

Lee made his acting debut in 2006 through the KBS2 series Invisible Man Choi Jang-su and built a steady career over two decades.

He appeared in numerous productions including Bad Love, Private Lives and Miss Monte-Cristo, which marked his first lead role in 2021.

In 2022, Lee faced significant public scrutiny after he was detained on suspicion of drug use. However, the allegations were later dismissed after police reviewed medical records confirming the substances in his system were prescribed antidepressants.

The actor had reportedly been taking the medication for mental health reasons following the tragic loss of his sister and parents. Police eventually closed the case without charges due to insufficient evidence and Lee returned to the screen a year later in the KBS drama The Elegant Empire.
