Foul smell leads to discovery of man’s body in Ipoh home

The death was not believed to involve any criminal elements.

IPOH – A foul smell has led to the discovery of a man’s body believed to have been dead for several days at a house in Taman Kledang Jaya here on Sunday.

Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the unpleasant odour was first noticed by neighbours, who alerted the police at 11.26am.

He said the victim was a 52-year-old man who was found dead inside the house.

“Initial investigations found that the victim had a history of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

“The victim was also reported to have suffered a mild stroke and was undergoing follow-up treatment at a nearby health facility,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

He said so far, the death was not believed to involve any criminal elements.

“Members of the public are advised not to speculate in a manner that could affect the sensitivity of the victim’s family,” he added.
