Man charged with attempted murder after allegedly trying to smother wife with pillow
An unemployed man was charged at the Sessions Court here today with attempting to kill his wife at their home last week.

IPOH - An unemployed man was charged at the Sessions Court here today with attempting to kill his wife at their home last week.
Mohd Yusof Mat Yatim, 42, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out before Judge Meor Sulaiman Ahmad Tarmizi.
According to the charge, Mohd Yusof was charged with attempting to kill Syazwana Mohd Talaha, 38, by covering her face with a pillow, knowing that the act could cause her death.
The offence was allegedly committed at a house in Taman Changkat Lada Raya, Seberang Perak, Kampung Gajah in the Perak Tengah district at 9 am on March 25.
The charge, under Section 307 of the Penal Code, carries a 10-year jail sentence and a fine or imprisonment of up to 20 years or can be punished with the death penalty if injury is caused and the accused is subject to life imprisonment, if convicted.
Earlier, Prosecuting Officer Inspector Zahira Musa requested that the accused not be granted bail on the grounds that he had acted aggressively and attempted to jump from the fourth floor of a building during the investigation.
The court set May 4 for mention for Mohd Yusof to appoint a lawyer. - BERNAMA
