Thunderstorms, heavy rain forecast in most states until 6pm

SHAH ALAM – The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms and heavy rain affecting several areas in Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak and Sabah until 6pm on Wednesday.

In a statement, MetMalaysia said the affected areas in the peninsula include Perlis, Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), and Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim).

The same warning was also issued for Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Jerantut, Bentong, Maran, Kuantan and Rompin), Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat), the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Rembau and Tampin), Melaka, and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Kluang and Mersing).

In Sarawak, the affected areas include Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei (Sarikei and Meradong), Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro, Matu and Dalat), Miri (Subis and Marudi), as well as Limbang.

In Sabah, the heavy rain warning covers the Interior areas (Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Nabawan, Keningau and Tambunan), while the West Coast involves Papar, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud.
