Police: Seven held so far in Buntong murder probe
Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the latest arrests were made in the Mengelembu area earlier this morning.

IPOH - Police have arrested three more individuals to assist in the investigation into the murder of a 25-year-old man in a fight in Buntong last Monday, bringing the total number of suspects detained so far to seven.
Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the latest arrests were made in the Mengelembu area earlier this morning.
Previously, four suspects aged between their early 20s and 30s, including the main suspect, were successfully arrested from areas around Ipoh and Sungai Siput.
"Initial investigations found that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between two groups, believed to involve personal issues. Investigations indicate that it was more of a personal dispute between the two groups and did not involve elements of serious organised crime,” he said at a press conference at the Perak contingent police headquarters (IPK) here today.
On Tuesday, Ipoh police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said that his team received information about a man found dead following a fight at around 11.10 pm on Monday.
The victim was found dead with slash wounds, while two of the victim’s friends who were injured in the incident are still receiving treatment, at a government hospital and a private hospital respectively.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, as well as Sections 326 and 148 of the same code for causing grievous hurt and rioting.
Meanwhile, Noor Hisam said the security situation in Buntong and throughout the state of Perak is under control and remains safe.
"There is no issue of equating the situation in Buntong with the case in Klang as claimed on social media, as the situation here is still peaceful and under control,” he said.
He added that the police are continuing their investigation to determine the actual cause of the incident and the possible involvement of other individuals. - BERNAMA
