SHAH ALAM - Maybank has introduced a new security verification process for MAE app PIN (Personal Identification Number) resets.

Users will be required to verify their identity by using their MyKad or passport within the MAE app.

They will be asked to scan their MyKad or passport and then take a selfie. Once the step is completed, they can then create a new MAE app PIN and authorise the process with Secure2u.

For users who are unable to verify their identity via MyKad or passport through the MAE app, they have to visit a Maybank ATM or branch to get a temporary M2U PIN.

The temporary PIN is valid for 48 hours and needs to be keyed into the MAE app to complete the security verification process in order to perform the PIN number reset.

Maybank explains that the new verification process only applies if users need to reset their MAE app PIN.

"If you are not resetting your MAE app PIN or typically use biometric authentication to access the app, no action is required. You may continue using the MAE app as usual," it said in the announcement on its website.

The bank added that the update is only applicable to individual or sole proprietor users.

More information, including a step-by-step guide on PIN reset and FAQ, is available on the Maybank website. - THE STAR
