Axia driver who fled after hitting traffic policeman identified
The driver fled the scene without stopping to render assistance to the victim.

KUALA LUMPUR – Police have identified the driver of a Perodua Axia believed to be involved in a hit-and-run incident involving a police officer attached to the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department at Jalan Sultan Yahya Petra here on Friday.
However, the department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said further verification is still ongoing and efforts to track down the individual are actively being carried out.
“The driver has been identified, but further confirmation is still in progress and efforts to locate the individual are ongoing,” he said when contacted by Sinar on Monday.
On Sunday, it was reported that in the incident which occurred at about 10.47pm on Friday, the victim, Constable Roslan Salleh, 27, was carrying out traffic control duties at a yellow box junction when he was hit from behind by a vehicle.
The driver fled the scene without stopping to render assistance to the victim.
Zamzuri said the victim sustained injuries, including wounds to his right palm and the back of his head, as well as pain in his ribs.
The victim was taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital by a Malaysian Civil Defence Force ambulance for further treatment.
He added that investigations are ongoing, including reviewing closed-circuit television footage at the scene and surrounding areas to help track down the suspect.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
