Aunt forgives teacher after Form One student’s death

KOTA BHARU – The aunt of a Form One student who died after allegedly being struck by a vehicle driven by a teacher at a school here says she has forgiven her following the tragic incident.

The victim’s aunt, Zuraifah Noor, 43, said the teacher had apologised multiple times when they met after the incident.

“I forgive her. The teacher apologised many times when we met.

“The teacher said she blacked out and did not know what she was doing. When she realised it, it had already happened.

“I looked at her face and she seemed shocked and traumatised. This is all determined by Allah, and if we get angry, it is as if we are questioning what has been destined.

“We understand, no one wants this to happen,” she said when met at her home in Kampung Gayong on Monday.

Zuraifah said the incident was a matter of fate.

Zuraifah (centre) said she had cared for the victim, Nur Fatimatul Hawa Mohd Azaudin since she was a baby.

However, she said she would not allow the teacher or her family to visit her home for the time being.

She said it was best to give everyone time to calm down.

Zuraifah, who is self-employed, said she had cared for the victim, Nur Fatimatul Hawa Mohd Azaudin, 13, since she was a baby.

She said her sister, the victim’s mother, had passed away following a divorce, and the children had been living with her since young.

“After their mother’s death five years ago, I took over caring for all four siblings,” she said.

She said the victim was the third of four siblings. The others are Nur Fatimatul Zahra, 16; Muhammad Ali Mustaqim, 15; and Muhammad Ariff Mustaqim, 11.

She added that the victim was laid to rest at the Kampung Gayong cemetery at 9.30pm on Sunday.

Earlier, it was reported that a Form One student died after she was believed to have been struck by a car while putting on her shoes in front of a surau at a school here on Sunday.

In the 1.30pm incident, the 13-year-old victim died at the scene due to severe injuries.
