Anwar receives RM7 ‘duit raya’ from siblings, praises act of kindness
Anwar described the encounter as more than a simple exchange, saying it reflected the warmth, kindness and unity that continue to bind Malaysians across generations.

SHAH ALAM - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received an unexpected RM7 in ‘duit raya’ from two young siblings in Terengganu, a simple gesture that has since captured national attention.
He later shared the touching moment, which took place at the gate of Sultan Mahmud Airport as he prepared to depart for Kuala Lumpur, where he met siblings Uwais Al Qorni and Aesha Khadeeja.
“It has been a long time, decades, in fact — since I last received duit raya. I was deeply moved by their sincerity in offering it, a gesture of affection that humbles the heart,” he said.
Anwar described the encounter as more than a simple exchange, saying it reflected the warmth, kindness and unity that continue to bind Malaysians across generations.
Reflecting on the moment, he said the children’s gesture served as a gentle reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can carry profound meaning, especially in challenging times.
“Seeing their faces brings a sense of tenderness and compassion. Our responsibility is to ensure every Malaysian child is raised with love, proper education and fair opportunities,” he added.
He also said the small yet meaningful act symbolised the spirit of mutual support among Malaysians, regardless of age or background.
The story took a further turn when the siblings, Aesha and her younger brother Uwais, received a surprise visit at their home in Ladang Titian.
Representing the Prime Minister, Terengganu Federal Development Department director Abdul Kahar Abdul Latif delivered gifts on Anwar’s behalf, including an iPad, ‘duit raya’ and school supplies.
The contribution was intended as a token of appreciation for the children’s sincerity, reinforcing the message that acts of kindness, no matter how small, are deeply valued.
Abdul Kahar also conveyed Anwar’s message encouraging the siblings to remain committed to their education and strive for a brighter future.
The exchange quickly gained attention online, resonating with many Malaysians who saw it as a reminder of the enduring values of humility, generosity and compassion in society.
