Tourist and parasailing assistant fall into sea after rope snaps mid-air
They were lifted into the air before the main rope suddenly breaks.

PHUKET – A tourist and a parasailing assistant reportedly fell into the sea after the rope connecting the parachute to a speedboat suddenly snapped while they were in mid-air.
According to reports, the incident occurred shortly after both individuals had taken off from the water surface.
Footage of the incident, which has gone viral on social media, shows them being lifted into the air before the main rope suddenly breaks, causing both to fall into the sea from what is described as a relatively low height.
The video was uploaded by a foreign witness on TikTok account @burcuus with the caption “That was close”.
Thai television stations reported that the snapped rope was the connection between the parasailing parachute and the speedboat.
Fortunately, both individuals were reported to be unharmed and did not sustain any injuries.
As of now, it remains unclear whether the tourist has taken legal action or is seeking compensation following the incident.
Police and relevant government agencies have also yet to issue any official statement.
The incident has triggered reactions among netizens, who questioned the safety standards of parasailing operators in the area.
Many have called for stricter inspections of equipment, especially given the high cost of the activity.
There have also been calls for parasailing operations to be temporarily suspended until adequate safety assurances are in place for tourists.
The incident has also raised concerns about previous safety-related cases involving similar activities in Phuket.
In January last year, authorities launched an operation against an operator who failed to comply with safety standards after a staff member died from a fall while assisting customers at Karon Beach.
In April of the same year, a foreign man was injured after falling onto a jet ski while parasailing at Patong Beach.
Meanwhile, in October, a staff member had to jump into the sea to assist tourists after a speedboat capsized near Kata Beach.
Despite enforcement actions being taken, such incidents continue to recur.
