10-year-old boy feared drowned after falling into drain in Bandar Puncak Alam

Reports from members of the public indicate the victim fell into the drain at 3.30pm and was swept away by strong currents during heavy rain.

SHAH ALAM - A 10-year-old boy is feared drowned after falling into a drain and being swept away by strong currents in Lorong Cakera Purnama, Bandar Puncak Alam on Tuesday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the department received a call about the incident at 7.47pm, before a team of six personnel with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) from Bestari Jaya Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene at 8.13pm.

"Reports from members of the public indicate the victim fell into the drain at 3.30pm and was swept away by strong currents during heavy rain.

"Search and rescue operations by the fire department are currently ongoing," he said in a statement at 10.40pm, last night.
