SHAH ALAM - Two men were killed after the cars they were driving collided along Persiaran Mokhtar Dahari here on Monday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 1.36pm.

He said a team of personnel from the Bukit Jelutong Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene.

"The first vehicle arrived at the location at approximately 1.50pm.

"The operations commander reported an accident involving two cars - a Perodua Kancil and a Perodua Axia - in a head-on collision," he said in a statement on Monday.

He said both victims were found trapped in the driver's seats of their respective vehicles.

"The first victim was a 39-year-old man driving the Perodua Axia, while the second was a 21-year-old man driving the Perodua Kancil.

"Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene by the Ministry of Health," he said.

Mukhlis said firemen then carried out an operation to extract the trapped victims using specialised equipment.

"Both victims were successfully extracted before being handed over to police for further action.

"The operation involved eight personnel and two vehicles — a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit," he said.
