Rosmaini charged with assaulting wife with chair, hose and metal hanger
His lawyer pleaded for bail on grounds that the accused had two wives and supported 11 children, including seven who were still in school.

SUNGAI PETANI – A man was charged at the Sessions Court, here, on Thursday with injuring his wife using various objects in March and last month.
However, the accused, Rosmaini Abdul Raof, 43, pleaded not guilty after the two charges were read before Judge Najwa Che Mat.
On the first count, he was accused of intentionally causing grievous hurt to his wife, Nurfitri Moktar, 39, using a plastic chair and a rubber hose at a house in Bandar Amanjaya at about 5pm on March 29.
On the second charge, he was accused of assaulting the victim again using clothes hangers and a metal hanger at the same location at about 9am on April 23.
Following the offences, the accused was charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years, as well as a possible fine or whipping upon conviction.
The prosecution was handled by Kedah State Prosecution director Datuk Khairul Anuar Abdul Halim, while the accused was represented by National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer Ruzanna Abdul Rahim.
During the proceedings, the prosecution informed the court that the accused was not eligible for bail as he was currently serving a prison sentence at Kajang Prison.
However, the defence counsel pleaded for bail on grounds that the accused had two wives and supported 11 children, including seven who were still in school.
The court, however, denied bail and fixed June 16 for mention and document submission.
Previously, it was reported that the victim suffered serious injuries to several parts of her body after allegedly being assaulted by her husband in the incident here.
As a result of the assault, the 39-year-old civil servant suffered a miscarriage while 12 weeks pregnant.
The suspect, who fled after the incident, was later arrested by police in Alor Setar.
Police also confirmed that the accused was the same individual previously convicted of assaulting his wife in a case in Johor Bahru in 2021.
