MELAKA – A Year Five pupil from a school in Batu Berendam was rushed to hospital after he reportedly fell from a corridor of the school building on Wednesday.

It is understood that the 11-year-old boy fell while attempting to retrieve his shoes from the school roof.

A source said they found out about the incident from their younger sibling while picking them up from school.

"The incident happened at noon when all the pupils were preparing to go home.

"The pupil is believed to have been trying to retrieve his shoes, which had been thrown onto the roof, before he slipped and fell," the source told reporters.

The source added that it was raining at the time, which caused the floor and roof to be wet and slippery.

However, the current condition of the child remains unknown.

Meanwhile, Melaka Tengah District Police Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, when contacted, confirmed receiving a report on the incident.

He said further investigations are being conducted before any official statement is released.
