UPS room at Sasana Kijang catches fire

About 40 per cent of the room was burned.

KUALA LUMPUR – An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) room at Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara, caught fire on Friday.

The incident occurred at 7.32am, with the Kuala Lumpur Operations Movement Centre receiving an emergency call via the NG999 line.

The Kuala Lumpur branch of the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said in a statement that a team of 17 personnel and officers with three engines from Sentul Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by Titiwangsa Fire and Rescue Station, were deployed to the scene.

The team was led by operations commander S. Thirugaiyah, who upon arrival found the fire involving a backup battery UPS room on the third floor of the building.

"The swift action of our personnel successfully extinguished the fire, which was brought under control at 7.46am. About 40 per cent of the room was burned.

"No casualties were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation," the statement read.
