"Michael” regains No. 1 spot at North American box office

LOS ANGELES - Lionsgate's Michael Jackson biopic "Michael” regained the No. 1 spot at the North American box office with US$26.1 million in its fourth weekend of release, according to data from measurement firm Comscore released on Sunday, reported Xinhua.

"Michael” has grossed US$282.8 million in North America and US$703.9 million worldwide so far.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the film tells the story of late American singer Michael Jackson's life beyond music, highlighting both his life off stage and some of his most iconic performances from his early solo career.

"The Devil Wears Prada 2”, from 20th Century Studios, slipped to second with US$18 million in its third weekend. The comedy-drama has now earned US$175.9 million domestically through Sunday.

Rounding out the top three, Focus Features' R-rated horror film "Obsession” opened this weekend to a debut of US$16.1 million. - BERNAMA
