Sepat FSO tragedy: Remains of three workers claimed by families

KUALA TERENGGANU - The remains of three workers who were killed after a lifeboat plunged into the sea during maintenance work at the Sepat floating storage and offloading (FSO) facility in the Terengganu-Kelantan waters yesterday afternoon have been claimed by their families for burial.

A Bernama check at the Forensic Medicine Department of Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) found that the remains of the first victim, Nik Muhammad Hafifi Asri Ab Majid, 38, were taken out at about 12.25 pm for funeral prayers at Masjid Al-Iman As-Shafie KotaSAS, before being laid to rest at the Setali Muslim Cemetery in Kuantan, Pahang.

Meanwhile, the remains of the second victim, Muhammad Faezuan Hakim Mohammad Bustamam, 28, were taken out at about 1.40pm for funeral prayers at Masjid Cenderawasih, Kuantan, before being laid to rest at the same cemetery.

As for the third victim, Ahmad Fiqri Zakaria, 38, from Alor Gajah, Melaka, his remains were released after the post-mortem examination and taken back to Melaka at about 2.50 pm for burial at the Padang Sebang Muslim Cemetery in Alor Gajah.

Yesterday, Bernama reported that three oil platform workers were killed, while another suffered serious injuries, after their lifeboat fell into the sea while carrying out maintenance work at the Sepat FSO facility.
