Monsta Studios selected as finalist in 2026 WIPO Global Awards
Finalists were evaluated based on the strength of their business model and IP portfolio, IP commercialisation strategy, internal IP culture and potential societal impact aligned with the SDGs.

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian animation and intellectual property (IP) company Monsta Studios has been selected as one of the 33 finalists in the 2026 WIPO Global Awards organised by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
In a statement, Monsta Studios said the recognition placed the company among finalists chosen from more than 1,300 applications submitted from 126 countries worldwide.
The WIPO Global Awards recognise startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that leverage strong intellectual property strategies alongside innovation and creativity to expand their businesses while contributing towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
According to the statement, finalists were evaluated based on the strength of their business model and IP portfolio, IP commercialisation strategy, internal IP culture and potential societal impact aligned with the SDGs.
Monsta Studios said its approach in the creative industries sector and IP strategy had enabled the company to evolve from a local animation studio into an IP enabler integrating storytelling, technology, marketing and commerce into a unified ecosystem.
"We continuously focus on strengthening the creativity and quality of every IP we develop while ensuring strong protection of our core assets. At the same time, IP diversification is essential because the potential within a single IP is vast,” said its founder and chief executive officer Nizam Abd Razak in the statement.
Meanwhile, Director of the WIPO Awards Programme Marcelo Di Pietro congratulated Monsta Studios for reaching the finalists stage.
"We are delighted to recognise these finalists whose innovative approaches and thoughtful IP strategies stand out among over 1,300 applicants worldwide. They show how IP, when strategically considered, can be a genuine business asset for growth,” he said.
As a finalist, Monsta Studios will join the Global Awards Alumni Community and gain access to opportunities facilitated by WIPO, including investor and accelerator matchmaking sessions, expert talks and personalised introductions to strategic business and IP-related events.
The 11 winners of the 2026 WIPO Global Awards will be announced during the official awards ceremony scheduled to be held on July 10 in Geneva during the WIPO Assemblies.
Monsta Studios is known for its involvement in feature films, television series, merchandising and other IP-related businesses targeting children and family audiences. - BERNAMA
