SHAH ALAM - redONE Mobile continues its long-running community outreach efforts through its annual Barakah Korban programme, bringing together employees, business partners and local communities across Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan and Sabah in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha.

Held from May 27 until May 30 under the company’s charitable arm, Yayasan redONE, the programme reflected the telecommunications provider’s continued emphasis on community engagement and grassroots support since the initiative was first introduced in 2014.

The annual programme involved the slaughtering, preparation and distribution of qurban meat to communities in need, while also encouraging cooperation between mosque committees, volunteers, residents and company representatives.

redONE Mobile group chief executive officer Farid Yunus said the initiative represented more than a corporate social responsibility programme.

“For us, qurban is not only about sacrifice, but also sincerity, empathy and the spirit of togetherness.

“Programmes like this give us the opportunity to be on the ground and connect with communities that have continuously supported and contributed to the growth of redONE Mobile over the years.

“As a community telco, we believe strong relationships with the community should be built consistently and not only during certain occasions. Through the Barakah Korban programme, we hope to continue sharing blessings while strengthening ties with communities across the country,” he said.

This year’s Barakah Korban programme was carried out at multiple locations across Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah.

In Pahang, activities were held at the Haji Mubin surau in Kampung Padang, Kuantan on May 27, followed by Felda Kota Gelanggi 2 Mosque in Jerantut on May 28.

In Terengganu, the programme took place at Kampung Renek Mosque in Besut and Seberang Takir Mosque in Kuala Nerus.

Kelantan locations included Mukim Bunohan Mosque in Tumpat and Mukim Tanjong Chat Mosque in Kota Bharu, while the Sabah programme was held at Al-Ba’ari Mosque in Taman Ketiau, Putatan.

According to the company, the initiative also sought to preserve the spirit of ‘gotong-royong’ and strengthen ties between communities from diverse backgrounds through collaborative participation.

Beyond the annual qurban programme, redONE Mobile said it has continued expanding its broader community support efforts throughout the year through Yayasan redONE.

Earlier during Ramadan, the company organised several nationwide outreach activities under its annual Colours of Ramadan initiative, focusing on underserved communities including homeless groups in Kuala Lumpur, underprivileged families and local neighbourhood communities.

This year’s Ramadan programme also prioritised support for orphans through contributions of educational necessities and improvements to learning facilities at Pusat Jagaan Mesra As Salam in Bandar Bukit Puchong.

The company also continued its Ronda Bazaar Ramadan initiative across several states, including the Klang Valley, Melaka, Perak, Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak, aimed at increasing visibility for local micro traders operating at Ramadan bazaars.

As part of its broader outreach strategy, the redINFAQ initiative was expanded through collaborations with 12 food content creators on TikTok to help promote selected traders while distributing food contributions to communities in several states, including Kedah, Perlis, Kuala Lumpur, Terengganu, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak.

In another community-driven initiative, redONE Mobile also worked with e-hailing and p-hailing associations in Sungai Petani alongside Jabatan Perpaduan Negara dan Integrasi Nasional Kota Setar to distribute bubur lambuk to local residents.

The company said the initiatives collectively reflected its ongoing efforts to support local communities, strengthen social ties and ensure assistance reaches underserved groups consistently throughout the year.
