‘I was shocked to see my son’s arm severed, stuck in a car bonnet’
He was stunned by the condition following the crash that had befallen his son.

PASIR MAS – A father is unable to forget the heartbreaking moment when he saw the aftermath of an accident that claimed the life of his eldest son in a crash along Jalan Lubok Gong–Jeram Perdah here on Wednesday afternoon.
House painter Zurul Azli Awang, 48, said he rushed to the scene as soon as he received a call informing him that his son, Muhammad Luqman Zurul Azli, 19, had been involved in an accident.
He said that upon arriving at the location, he was stunned by the condition following the crash that had befallen his son.

“When I reached the scene, I was shocked to see my son’s right arm stuck at the front of a Honda Jazz driven by a man.
“Luqman had already passed away due to the severe injuries he sustained,” he said when met at his home in Kampung Gual Sitok here.
In the incident, which occurred at around 5pm on the first day of Hari Raya Aidiladha, the victim died at the scene after the Honda EX5 motorcycle he was riding collided with a Honda Jazz.

Azli said his son had left the house at about 4.45pm after performing the Asar prayer to visit friends for the festive celebration.
He added that about 15 minutes later, he received a phone call from a friend informing him of the accident.
“His passing has deeply affected the family. In fact, a wedding reception for two family members scheduled for today had to be cancelled out of respect for him,” he said.
Meanwhile, the victim’s mother, Liza Ariffin, 44, said that before leaving the house, her eldest child of three had asked for RM5 to buy a drink.

She added that the deceased had also shown several changes in behaviour that caught the family’s attention prior to the incident.
“He once told his aunt that he did not want to buy new clothes because he would be going far away.
“A day before the incident, he was also said to have spoken to his motorcycle while wrapping it in a blanket,” she said.
Pasir Mas District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mazlan Hassan said initial investigations found that the victim had lost control of the machine and entered the opposite lane.

He said this caused the motorcycle ridden by the victim to collide with a Honda Jazz travelling in its proper lane.
“The victim sustained severe injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene,” he said.
