‘Welcome back Noh Omar, Syed Hamid Albar’ – Onn Hafiz
The presence of the two influential figures drew attention from party supporters and leaders and was seen as a positive signal toward strengthening and uniting Umno’s support base ahead of the Johor state election.

ISKANDAR PUTERI – Umno received a morale boost ahead of the Johor state election as two veteran party figures, Tan Sri Noh Omar and Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar, attended the launch of the Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) machinery at an event in Johor Bahru on Sunday.
The presence of the two influential figures drew attention from party supporters and leaders and was seen as a positive signal toward strengthening and uniting Umno’s support base ahead of the Johor state election.
Johor BN chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi also welcomed the return of several senior leaders, including Noh and Syed Hamid, in his speech at the Johor Bahru event.
“A very prominent leader from Selangor is present here with us today, Tan Sri Noh Omar. Let’s give him a big round of applause.
“Another veteran leader. Welcome back, Tan Sri Syed Hamid. Welcome back to Johor Darul Ta’zim. Not forgetting my ‘Ayah Chik’, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein,” he said.
Noh was seen wearing a shirt bearing the Umno logo while waving to supporters, further fuelling speculation that he is among former leaders rejoining the party.
The presence of the two experienced leaders, both former members of Umno’s Supreme Council (MKT), was warmly received by supporters and party leaders attending the event.
Noh was previously expelled from Umno in January 2023 before later joining Bersatu, while Syed Hamid announced his departure from the party in 2018.
