SHAH ALAM – Pas has concluded discussions on its future direction with its partners in Perikatan Nasional (PN) and is expected to announce its official stance sometime this week.

Its Central Working Committee member Tan Sri Annuar Musa said all component parties within the coalition would remain together, while plans are being charted to further strengthen political cooperation ahead of the 16th General Election (GE16).

“Pas has taken considerable time to consolidate its direction for GE16. Various efforts have been undertaken, and now it is time to move forward.

“Pas members and supporters should not be overly distracted by polemics deliberately created to disrupt the party’s journey and struggle. Let us move forward,” he said in a social media post on today.

On June 8, Pas announced the termination of its political cooperation with Bersatu following a special meeting of the party’s Central Working Committee.

Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said the committee had endorsed a decision made by the Syura Council on June 2, taking into account policy considerations, religious principles and public interest in Pas’ political cooperation framework, which is rooted in the principle of Muslim unity.

In the same statement, Annuar revealed that efforts to expand political cooperation would continue, with greater openness extended to parties and individuals who had previously faced obstacles in joining a broader political alliance.

He said the door to negotiations would be opened as widely as possible to political partners who share common aspirations and objectives in the interest of the nation.
