Bersatu on the brink of collapse as Muhyiddin fails to manage Pas conflict, says Wan Ahmad Fayhsal
He said Muhyiddin’s insistence on maintaining his position amid the current Perikatan Nasional (PN) crisis had been detrimental to both Bersatu and the coalition.
KUALA LUMPUR – Bersatu is on the brink of collapse due to party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s failure to manage the internal conflict with Pas, according to Machang member of parliament Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.
He said Muhyiddin’s insistence on maintaining his position amid the current Perikatan Nasional (PN) crisis had been detrimental to both Bersatu and the coalition.
“What he is doing is truly damaging Bersatu and PN.
“He is still being stubborn and locking horns with Pas and all of us as though he is still the PN chairman,” he said when met after attending the Opposition Members of Parliament meeting at the Pas headquarters on Wednesday.
Wan Ahmad Fayhsal also expressed disappointment with the Pagoh member of parliament, describing him as lacking rational judgement in resolving the ongoing dispute.
“What he tried to argue yesterday during the Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council meeting was completely baseless.
“Let the leadership in the PN Supreme Council discuss the matter. I am disappointed with Muhyiddin because he does not have rational judgement in managing this conflict.
“In reality, Bersatu is on the brink of collapse. That is my observation,” he added.
Earlier, Muhyiddin stressed that his party was prepared to face any eventuality following Pas’ decision to end its political cooperation with Bersatu.
He also maintained that Bersatu would remain a component party within PN and would continue using the coalition’s logo in the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections on July 11 and Aug 1 respectively.
