'Red is us, blue is also our home' - Muhyiddin

MUAR – "Red is us, blue is also our home," said Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, addressing the buzz over what colour to wear ahead of the Johor state election (PRN) machinery launch for Bersatu on Sunday.

He said the debate over whether supporters should wear red or blue was not a major issue, but instead reflected the spirit within Perikatan Nasional (PN).

He noted that red is Bersatu's official colour while blue is synonymous with PN.

"Many asked what to wear tonight. Some said wear red because that's Bersatu's colour.

"Others asked why we should wear red when we're in Perikatan Nasional. But it's fine. Red is us, blue is also our home. We'll always be in PN," he said when speaking at the Bersatu Johor PRN machinery launch at the SLF Ballroom, Bakri, here on Sunday.

On June 16, Muhyiddin was reported as saying Bersatu had decided to stay in PN and would use the PN logo for the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections.

Meanwhile, Bersatu information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz was previously reported as saying Pas should leave PN and form a new coalition with its own logo and branding.

He claimed Pas had never been fully committed to PN, and that the party was also involved in political negotiations outside the coalition.

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin, who is also Pagoh MP, said the public is increasingly burdened by the rising cost of living, which has yet to be effectively addressed.

He said the public continually judges government performance, whether at federal or state level, based on its ability to resolve issues that directly affect their daily lives.
