PETALING JAYA – A female student from a private higher learning institution (IPTS) was found dead, suspected to have been murdered, at a condominium in Bandar Sunway here on Tuesday.
Petaling Jaya district deputy police chief Superintendent M Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly said police received information on the incident at 11.03am, before a team was dispatched to the location to investigate.
"Initial checks found the victim, believed to be in her 20s, had died and had several injuries on her body.
"Following the incident, police detained a foreign man believed to be in his 20s at the same location to assist investigations," he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Hussin said the forensic team investigating the scene also seized several pieces of evidence believed to be useful to the investigation.
"The motive is still being investigated and the case is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder," he said.

He said the victim's body has been sent to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) for a post-mortem scheduled for Wednesday to determine the cause of death.
"Members of the public with information related to the incident are asked to come forward at the nearest police station or contact the investigating officer, Assistant Superintendent Surianti Lataera at 013-3352547 to assist investigations.
"The public is advised not to speculate or spread material related to the incident on any platform as it could jeopardise the police investigation," he said.
