SHAH ALAM - The Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, graced the Women Summit & Women #QuranHour 2026 programme here today.

Her arrival at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah was received by Yayasan Warisan Ummah Ikhlas (WUIF) chief executive officer Marhaini Yusoff and Asia Pacific Women's Coalition for Al-Quds and Palestine (ApWCQP) president Dr Fauziah Mohd Hasan.

The programme, themed "Women of Grit", is a Saff Women Empowerment initiative launched by Yayasan Warisan Ummah Ikhlas (WUIF) in conjunction with the World #QuranConvention Surah Al-Saff in December 2025.

It draws inspiration from the resilience of Palestinian women, particularly in Gaza, who continue to uphold their faith, families and children's education despite war, the loss of family members, destroyed homes and other hardships.

Women Summit & Women #QuranHour 2026 director Gharizah Hashim said the programme was created to help women build inner strength guided by revelation in facing increasingly complex life challenges.

"Women of Grit is not just about the strength to endure hardship, but about how women cultivate a calm spirit, make wise decisions and keep moving forward guided by the Quran.

"We want to nurture women who can rise from trials, become a source of strength for their families and continue contributing to society and the ummah," she said.

She said women play a vital role in shaping culture within both family and society.

She explained that, as such, building women's mindset and character on Quranic foundations needs to be strengthened so as to produce a generation of women with a clear sense of purpose in life, compassionate character and resilience.

"Among the programme's key references are Surah An-Nisa' verses 34 to 36, Surah Al-Muzzammil, as well as the story of the early revelation featuring the role of Saidatina Khadijah RA as a source of calm and strength for the Prophet Muhammad SAW," she added.
