Johor polls: Something's 'not right', says Puad Zarkashi, hinting at June 27 announcement
"The latest developments in Umno Johor are worrying."

JOHOR BAHRU – Johor State Assembly (DUN) Speaker Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi has hinted he will make an important announcement on June 27, following the latest developments in Barisan Nasional's (BN) candidate selection for the Johor state election (PRN).
In a Facebook statement, he claimed there were a few things "not right" for Umno Johor after seeing the list of candidates to be announced on Wednesday.
"Today BN Johor will announce the list of candidates contesting PRN Johor 2026. Looking at that candidate list, there are things not right with Umno Johor.
"So I will make an important announcement on June 27. The latest developments in Umno Johor are worrying. I will not turn back even though I am a nobody," he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Puad said six days ago he had announced he would not defend the Rengit state seat in the Johor election, citing age and wanting to make way for trained, educated young leaders.
"I stressed that trained and educated young people must certainly be given the opportunity. But this was not heeded. I am exercising 'political courage' to continue the struggle," he said.
BN is expected to announce its candidate list for the Johor state election at the Umno Johor office today at 2.30pm.
