Midday fire destroys apartment unit in Seri Kembangan
Final assessments indicate that the affected apartment unit suffered approximately 80 percent structural and property damage.
SERI KEMBANGAN – A unit in an apartment at Taman Pinggiran Putra here was destroyed in a fire on Friday.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations assistant director, Ashrul Riezal Asbar, said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 12.12pm.
“A total of 15 officers and personnel from the Seri Kembangan Fire and Rescue Station, with assistance from the Cyberjaya station, along with fire engines, were deployed to the location, which is about seven kilometres away,” he said in a statement on Friday.
Ashrul said the first fire engine arrived at the scene about 10 minutes later and found that the fire involved a unit in a five-storey apartment building.
“Damage is estimated at 80 percent. We managed to bring the fire under control at 12.37pm before it was fully extinguished at 2.05pm.
“No victims were reported to be involved in the incident,” he said.
