SHAH ALAM – The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) is expected to issue an official statement regarding viral claims of a dispute over the management and burial of a deceased person at the Ukay Perdana Muslim Cemetery on Thursday.

A representative of the management of Masjid Nurul Hidayah in Kampung Pandan Dalam said all explanations regarding the matter have been submitted to Jais for further action and an official response.

“We will not be issuing any statement to avoid confusion. We are leaving it entirely to Jais to provide an official explanation,” they said in response to Sinar Harian.

Earlier, claims circulated on social media alleging that a dispute over the handling of the deceased delayed the burial process at the Ukay Perdana Muslim Cemetery by more than an hour.

According to the viral post, a welfare organisation claimed it had managed the deceased's funeral arrangements at the request of the family, but issues arose over the burial permit as well as an alleged RM1,400 fee imposed by the mosque management.

The post also alleged that the burial only proceeded after a representative from the mosque management arrived at the cemetery.
