Johor polls: Nomination centres open under favourable weather
Candidates had one hour, until 10am, to submit their nomination forms to the returning officer (RO) at their respective centres.

JOHOR BAHRU - All 56 nomination centres (PPC) for the 16th Johor State Election opened simultaneously at 9am today under favourable weather conditions.
Candidates had one hour, until 10am, to submit their nomination forms to the returning officer (RO) at their respective centres, before the list of eligible candidates was officially announced.
Nomination papers had to be handed to the RO by the candidate, proposer and seconder, or any two of them, or any one of them.
Election Commission (EC) officers carried out final preparations and handled the receipt of nomination papers, with security personnel stationed at all centres to maintain order and ensure the smooth conduct of the process. Police, assisted by the People's Volunteer Corps (RELA), also maintained traffic control around nomination centre areas to prevent any untoward incidents.
Party supporters began gathering as early as 6.30am to show support for their respective candidates.
Once verification is complete, a 14-day campaign period begins as set by the EC, running until 11.59pm on July 10.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said most districts in Johor were expected to remain dry in the morning, with thunderstorms forecast in several areas in the afternoon, including Johor Bahru, Segamat, Kluang and Kota Tinggi.
The Johor State Legislative Assembly, which has 56 seats, was dissolved on June 1, with the EC fixing July 7 for early voting and July 11 as polling day.
EC statistics show a total of 2,727,926 registered voters, comprising 2,703,175 ordinary voters, 12,041 military personnel and their spouses, and 12,710 police personnel and their spouses.
