'No baggage, only integrity' - Rashifa positions youth and honesty as her political strength

JOHOR BAHRU - In a race marked by experienced political figures, Muda candidate for Puteri Wangsa for the 16th Johor state election Rashifa Aljunied is leaning heavily on what she describes as her clean slate and principled stance, saying that her lack of political baggage is an advantage to win the election.
Rashifa said public confidence in politicians has been eroded over time and insisted that voters should now focus on character and accountability rather than tenure in politics.
“I don’t have any political baggage. Some may say I’m inexperienced, but I’m inexperienced in corruption. I’m inexperienced in taking any bribe from any political parties,” she told Sinar Daily.
She stressed that her entry into politics is rooted in consistency rather than reinvention adding that her core beliefs have remained unchanged from her early days as a volunteer to her current candidacy.
“Rashifa before Muda and after Muda is definitely the same person,” she said.
She said her decision to join the party was rooted in shared policy beliefs.
"For the past four years, joining the party has shaped me into who I am today in the political arena.I want to fight for every single Malaysian here,” she said.
Despite contesting in a competitive political environment, Rashifa emphasised that she does not view other candidates as adversaries, but as competitors offering different ideas to voters.
“I don’t believe in threats in elections. I believe in friendly competitors. All the candidates bring something to the table,” she said.
She also pledged to remain engaged with public service regardless of the election outcome, reinforcing her commitment to long-term political involvement driven by principles rather than positions.
