SHAH ALAM – Perikatan Nasional (PN) has never set its sights on taking over Johor’s administration in the upcoming state election, says Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

He said the coalition had anticipated this from the outset based on the number of seats it was contesting.

According to Tuan Ibrahim, PN did not field candidates in 23 of the 56 Johor state seats.

“From the beginning, we expected that PN would not take over Johor based on the number of seats we contested. There are 23 seats where PN is not contesting.

“Moreover, the call for voters to support BN in seats not contested by PN also confirms that our strategy from the outset was never to take over Johor’s administration,” he told Sinar on Wednesday.

He was commenting on Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s statement acknowledging that PN might not be able to form the Johor state government after the state election on Saturday.

Tuan Ibrahim said Muhyiddin’s remarks were consistent with what Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang had previously stated that PN was contesting the election to become a progressive opposition and was prepared to support Barisan Nasional should the coalition secure victory.
