JOHOR BAHRU – Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Alwiyah Talib is leading in the Endau state seat based on unofficial results, in one of the closely watched contests in the Johor state election.

Alwiyah, who recently rejoined Umno after leaving Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), is contesting the seat against Saiful Nizam Samat of Pakatan Harapan (PH-PKR), Hasnul Hakimi Hussein of Perikatan Nasional (PN-Pas), and Jati Awang of Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Asli).

Unofficial results show PN's Hasnul securing 2,392 votes, followed by PH's Saiful Nizam with 809 votes and Asli's candidate Jati with 275 votes.

As of now, votes from 28 of the 60 polling streams have been counted.

The Endau seat has drawn significant attention following Alwiyah's political return to Umno after serving as the incumbent under the PN-Bersatu banner.

Alwiyah won the Endau seat in the 2022 Johor state election on a PN ticket with a majority of 3,041 votes. She resigned from Bersatu earlier this year before being named BN's candidate for the 2026 state election.

The latest figures remain unofficial, with vote counting still ongoing.
