PUTRAJAYA – Members of the media covering the Federal Court's final appeal hearing involving Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman on Monday were provided with food packs containing nasi lemak and pancakes.

The food packs were also distributed to court personnel and supporters of the former Muda president gathered at the Palace of Justice.

Syed Saddiq's sister, Sharifah Amani, said the contribution was made by her brother as a gesture of appreciation towards those who were present.

"The food is a contribution from YB Syed Saddiq," she said when met at the Palace of Justice compound on Monday.

Previously, Syed Saddiq had also provided meals for media personnel covering court proceedings involving him as a token of appreciation for their commitment in carrying out their duties.

The Putrajaya Federal Court is set to deliver its decision on whether Syed Saddiq will be acquitted or otherwise on four charges involving abetting criminal breach of trust, misappropriation of property and money laundering involving funds belonging to Angkatan Bersatu Anak Muda (Armada).

The country's highest court's decision will determine whether the 34-year-old politician remains free as the Muar MP or faces a conviction and a seven-year jail sentence, two strokes of the cane and a RM10 million fine.

The outcome will also mark a significant turning point in the political journey of the former Bersatu Armada chief.
