Big Bad Wolf Books returns to Alor Setar with 40 per cent new titles

ALOR SETAR - Malaysia’s largest book fair, Big Bad Wolf Books (BBW), will return to Alor Setar from July 30 to Aug 9, featuring 40 per cent new titles to attract visitors and give them a wider selection of reading materials.

BBW representative Chloe Lim Sooi Yee said it is also a proactive effort to foster a reading culture among the people of Kedah, in addition to starting a comprehensive literacy movement designed to support the cultural and educational aspirations of the local community.

"Besides the 40 per cent new titles, we will also be bringing a special collection of ‘Little Ummah’ Islamic children’s books to Kedah for the first time. We are confident these books can attract the interest of the people in this state and the content is also interesting.

"An estimated one million books will be on sale at the fair this year, with prices starting from as low as RM3. Discounts of up to 95 per cent will also be offered as we want everyone to enjoy reading books,” she told reporters here yesterday.

The 11-day book fair will be held at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium here from 10 am to 10 pm daily, with free admission for the public.

She said BBW, famous for its concept of ‘accessible and affordable books for all’, will continue to serve as a key platform for cultivating a reading culture and increasing interest in knowledge among the community nationwide.

"We will also go to several schools to promote the BBW fair. In addition, students and teachers will also enjoy an additional five per cent discount when they purchase at least three books.

"The most interesting aspect, though, is that visitors stand the chance to win a 10-gramme gold bar through our ‘spend and win’ and ‘snap and win’ campaigns.

She added that BBW is targeting 35,000 visitors to attend the 11-day book fair.
