'How did my phone bill leak?' Khairul Aming presses telco over alleged customer data breach
He said he was not concerned about the alleged outstanding bill amount, but was deeply unsettled by how a stranger had managed to access and publicly share details of his private account.

SHAH ALAM – Prominent influencer and entrepreneur Khairul Aming has publicly demanded an explanation from Maxis after a social media user appeared to know details of his personal phone bill, raising serious questions over the protection of customer data.
In a post on Threads, Khairul Aming, whose real name is Khairul Amin Kamarulzaman said he was not concerned about the alleged outstanding bill amount, but was deeply unsettled by how a stranger had managed to access and publicly share details of his private account.
"There is no need to announce this as it is my personal matter. I do pay my bill in advance for several months ahead and had not noticed that the balance had been used up.
"But what is creepy is how you could know the details of my Maxis phone bill and post it publicly. This is my personal data," he wrote.

He stressed that the core issue was not the bill itself, but how his private account information had been accessed and shared without his consent.
His post came after a Threads user claimed to know details of his phone bill, alleging there was an outstanding balance of RM498 and referencing several digital add-on purchases linked to his account.
The post drew widespread attention, with many social media users raising concerns over the security and confidentiality of customer data and the responsibility of service providers in keeping such information protected.
"I am requesting an explanation from Maxis on how my personal phone bill could have been leaked," he said.
Meanwhile, in a statement today, Maxis confirmed it was investigating the matter, saying all access to customer accounts was fully logged and monitored.
The telco said its findings pointed to an isolated incident involving unauthorised action, with no indication of a broader breach affecting other customers.
"We have identified the individual linked to this incident and are taking immediate action, including legal action.
"We sincerely apologise for this incident. We remain deeply committed to data privacy and the protection of personal data," it said in the statement it posted on Facebook.
It added that it had reached out directly to Khairul Aming to address the matter.
