SHAH ALAM – The government has been urged to amend the bill to tighten existing laws on harsher penalties for drunk drivers whose actions result in fatalities.

Former education minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin said the amendments should also include compensation for the victims' families.

"The government must urgently table a tougher bill. Two students were killed after they were allegedly hit by a drunk driver in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Seri Setia in Teluk Intan, Perak," he said in a Facebook post on Sunday.

Earlier, a video went viral showing two secondary school students who died after being struck by a car.

The vehicle was allegedly driven by an intoxicated man in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Setia in Teluk Intan on Sunday.
