SEREMBAN - Police will summon Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor in the near future to assist investigations into his recent speech at the Negeri Sembilan State Election, which has been alleged to contain racial undertones.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said several witnesses have been called to give statements so far, and investigations are ongoing.

"Investigations are still under way. We have recorded statements from several witnesses and will summon the Pas leader in the near future to complete the investigation.

"Once police received two reports on the matter, an investigation paper was opened under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," he said at a press conference after visiting an early voting centre at the Nilai District Police Headquarters (IPD) here on Tuesday.

However, he said the total number of reports lodged against Sanusi has not yet been finalised.

On a separate case involving an Umno leader who linked the Negeri Sembilan Palace to a political party, Alzafny said his team will also summon the man to have his statement recorded.

"As informed up until last night (Tuesday), police have received 11 reports on the matter.

"Statements from several witnesses have been recorded, while the Umno Rembau information chief will be summoned in the near future to assist investigations," he said.

A video previously went viral showing an Umno Rembau leader alleging that the Negeri Sembilan Palace had been taken over by DAP.

Alzafny said investigations into both cases will also require the assistance of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

He stressed that police will attempt to resolve the investigations as quickly as possible during the state polls period.

He was previously reported as saying investigations were being conducted under Section 4A(1) of the Election Offences Act 1954, Section 505(B) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Members of the public have also been advised against making speculation or circulating the content, as doing so could affect the investigation and public order.

The Negeri Sembilan Palace, in a statement, stressed that any claims linking it to any political party are untrue.

All political parties have also been advised not to bring the palace into speeches and campaigning for the Negeri Sembilan State Election.
