HULU TERENGGANU - A Singaporean man in his 20s was arrested by police after he was caught riding a motorcycle recklessly and dangerously at Kilometre 403 of the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2).

Hulu Terengganu district police chief Superintendent Sharudin Abdul Wahab said the arrest was carried out by a team of officers and personnel from the Terengganu Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) at around 6pm on Thursday.

He said initial investigations found that the suspect, who was riding a Yamaha RXZ motorcycle, was on his way to participate in the RXZ Member 8.0 gathering programme, which will be held at the Gong Badak Motorsport Circuit in Kuala Nerus.

“The man was detected performing a ‘Superman’ stunt while riding the motorcycle along the route.

“The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous riding that endangered other road users.

“If convicted, the offender may face the punishment as provided under the act,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sharudin said police reminded all road users, particularly participants of the RXZ Member 8.0 programme, to always comply with traffic laws and practise responsible riding.

“The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) emphasises that it will not compromise with any individual who endangers the safety of other road users,” he said.
