KUALA LUMPUR - Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has visited former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob at the National Heart Institute (IJN) after he underwent a pacemaker implantation procedure following a recent health scare.
The visit comes after Ismail Sabri was rushed to IJN on Friday after his health deteriorated, following several hours spent at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters to assist with ongoing enquiries.
His legal team subsequently confirmed that the former prime minister had been hospitalised for emergency treatment.
A photo of Zahid's visit was shared on Ismail Sabri's official Instagram story, with his family thanking the Umno president for taking time out of his busy schedule to check on his health.
In the photo, Zahid was seen sitting by the bedside and chatting with Ismail Sabri, who was resting in his hospital bed.
Ismail Sabri has previously been summoned on multiple occasions to record his statement in connection with an MACC investigation involving his asset declaration.
The investigation has also seen the anti-graft agency seize RM170 million in cash in various foreign currencies and 16kg of pure gold bullion valued at about RM7 million.
The seizures were made during raids on several properties following the arrests of four of Ismail Sabri's former senior officers in February 2025.
