Government urged to act swiftly on Tabung Haji RCI recommendations
Sufficient time had passed since the RCI was completed in 2022, making it important for all recommendations to be taken seriously and implemented as soon as possible.

SHAH ALAM – The government has been urged to act swiftly on the recommendations of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), with Pertubuhan Ikram Malaysia (Ikram) saying there should be no further delay in implementing the proposed measures.
Ikram president Badlishah Sham Baharin said sufficient time had passed since the RCI was completed in 2022, making it important for all recommendations to be taken seriously and implemented as soon as possible.
“I welcome the release of the RCI report. But at the same time, I want to see the recommendations from the RCI taken seriously.
“We urge the recommendations to be implemented within the nearest possible timeframe,” he told Sinar on Aug 12.
Badlishah also welcomed the statement by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan, that some of the RCI recommendations had already been implemented.
However, he stressed that further action was necessary to prevent similar issues from recurring at TH, particularly in relation to the management of public funds.
“TH manages the people's funds, public funds. There are nearly 10 million depositors and according to data at the end of May 2026, TH manages RM95 billion in public funds.
“So, this is a very large fund and TH is an important institution. Therefore, it must be seen to be managing these funds very well. This is necessary to restore the people's confidence in TH,” he said.
Badlishah's call comes as the government continues to address the findings and recommendations contained in the RCI report, which examined issues surrounding the management and operations of TH.
