MELAKA - Mahasiswa Keadilan Malaysia chairman Muhammad Hazim Mohd Suhaimi brought forth four motions to strengthen students’ role in PKR, including establishing a leadership academy and a student advisory council, at the 2026 National Congress of Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) today.

The motions also include a community outreach programme and greater student representation in party committees and decision-making.

"We propose establishing the Mahasiswa Keadilan Leadership Academy to train young leaders in public policy, administrative communication and leadership, while the Mahasiswa Keadilan Advisory Council would serve as an official platform to convey students’ views to the party leadership.

"The third proposal is to establish a Students in the Community programme so that every state has a volunteer movement operating consistently throughout the year.

"And the fourth proposal seeks greater student participation in party committees and decision-making so that future leaders could be developed through experience rather than simply waiting for their turn,” he said during the debate on the AMK chief’s policy speech.

Muhammad Hazim said the country’s reform agenda would not succeed if students remained mere spectators, arguing that they should be trusted to take on leadership roles and become the next generation of leaders.

"I am not asking for a position. I am not asking for recognition. I ask for only one thing: trust young people, because history has shown that independence was fought for by the young and reform was driven by the young,” he said.

"If Reformasi 1998 produced a prime minister, then Reformasi 2026 must produce thousands of new leaders. Do not leave us with just a party. Leave us a culture of struggle. Leave us the future of the party, society and the country,” he added. - BERNAMA
