Zahid extends sympathy to Abdul Azeez, Rosmah at Umno General Assembly
Addressing delegates, Zahid described both individuals as "friends," acknowledging their presence at the annual gathering and the difficult circumstances they have each faced recently.

KUALA LUMPUR – Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi extended words of sympathy and support to party colleague Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim and to Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, during his address at the Umno Youth General Assembly, today.
Addressing delegates, Zahid described both individuals as "friends," acknowledging their presence at the annual gathering and the difficult circumstances they have each faced recently.
"We sympathise with him (Abdul Azeez) who has been dressed in orange. Our sympathy remains with both of these friends of ours," he said at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL), here.
His remarks come against the backdrop of Abdul Azeez's recent remand by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in connection with investigations arising from the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Lembaga Tabung Haji, of which the latter previously served as chairman.

Abdul Azeez who is also former Baling MP, was recently charged at the Sessions Court, here, with using his position to secure the chairmanship of a company — a role that allegedly came with annual remuneration of RM690,000, a BMW and a driver.
He also faces a separate charge of allegedly influencing the Tabung Haji board to approve an investment of up to RM193.5 million in the same company. He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Meanwhile, Najib who is also former Umno president has been serving a six-year jail sentence at Kajang Prison since August 2022 after he was convicted on seven charges in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case involving RM42 million.
In December 2025, he was convicted in a separate 1Malaysia Development Bhd case on four counts of abuse of power and 21 counts of money laundering. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison and fined RM11.38 billion.
Zahid also acknowledged Umno members and delegates who were unable to attend in person but followed proceedings remotely from across the country and abroad, thanking all delegates and grassroots members for their presence and participation in the annual gathering.
