Negeri Sembilan MB confirms exco unanimously endorsed Tuanku Muhriz's removal
Ismail said the state secretary had been instructed to proceed with the gazettement in accordance with existing regulations.

SEREMBAN –Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim has confirmed that the state executive council (exco) unanimously endorsed to the removal of Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir as the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan.
He said the decision was made at the state executive council meeting on Tuesday.
Ismail said the state secretary had been instructed to proceed with the gazettement in accordance with existing regulations.
“Today, I want to confirm that the proclamation was discussed and unanimously agreed upon by all exco members at the meeting on Sept 15 (Tuesday),” he said after the Negeri Sembilan First-Class Graduate Excellence Awards ceremony, here, today.
Earlier, Ismail told reporters that there would be no question-and-answer session and that he would only make a brief statement.
Several exco members were also present, including Exco for Education, Higher Education and Human Capital Datuk Zaifulbahri Idris; Exco for Local Government Development, Housing and Non-Muslim Affairs Siow Kong Choon; Exco for Agriculture, Food Security and Cost of Living Datuk Mohd Razi Mohd Ali; and Exco for Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage Datuk Razali Abu Samah.
Ismail was responding to a statement issued by exco members on Wednesday, which said they had collectively decided that the proclamation removing Tuanku Muhriz as the Yang di-Pertuan Besar was valid.
The statement also said Tuanku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar had been recognised as the new Yang di-Pertuan Besar with immediate effect.
According to the statement, the proclamation dated April 19, 2026, was signed and sealed by the legitimate and duly appointed Undang Luak under Article 10 of the 1959 Constitution of the State of Negeri Sembilan (UUTKNS).
It said the Undang Yang Empat had the absolute prerogative to choose and remove the Yang di-Pertuan Besar, as provided under Articles 32 and 79 of the UUTKNS 1959, as well as Articles 71 and 181 of the Federal Constitution.
The statement also said the proclamation recognising Tuanku Nadzaruddin under Article 11 of the UUTKNS 1959, dated April 19, 2026, had been signed and sealed by the legitimate Undang Luak.
On Sept 9, the Undang Yang Empat, including the disputed Undang, presented a document purportedly showing the proclamation removing Tuanku Muhriz as the Yang di-Pertuan Besar.
The document was said to have been signed by Ismail.
This came after Ismail issued a statement on Sept 6 expressing his loyalty and support for Tuanku Muhriz.
Ismail said his focus was now on carrying out his duties as Menteri Besar in the interests of the people and the state.
However, he later claimed that he had been forced to sign the proclamation document, although he did not identify the person or party who allegedly pressured him.
He also said he had lodged a police report over the matter.
